It can be so confusing reading ingredients lists...what actually do all those numbers mean and the incredibly long words that are almost impossible to pronounce? Keep on reading for some tips on how you can keep toxic chemicals out of your life by simply knowing how to read an ingredients list.

How to Break Down a Typical Ingredients List
Break it up into thirds: 90-95% of the ingredients in the first third of the list make up the majority of the product. The second third, 5-8% and the remaining third, 1-3%. So for example, if the first ingredient listed is Water then the majority of that product is made up of Water falling into the 90-95% bracket.

At the moment we are experiencing the trials, tribulations, thrills and excitement of starting up an organic food coop in our local area which is on the northern beaches of Sydney, NSW.
